Lunchtime rules

Come To Lunch

Throughout the school year, we arrange 'Come to Lunch' dates for all year groups, where parents/carers are invited to join their child over lunchtime and sample one of our delicious school dinners. For more information, please check our 'Dates For Your Diary' page.

Home-Cooked Favourites

Our Kitchen Team are always on the lookout for new, tasty and nutritious recipes.  If you have any of your own that you would like to share, please email Markeaton admin

We are a nut free school!

Due to children who attend Markeaton Primary School that have a severe nut allergy, we kindly request that you do not send your children to school or on school trips with nuts, or products containing nuts (please check ingredients lists for products such as chocolate spreads), for their snack or in their packed lunches.

For some children, contact with nut products could be potentially life-threatening!

Thank you for your cooperation in helping making Markeaton Primary School a safe school for all.

Lunchtime rulesSchool Dinners

We are very proud of our school kitchen here at Markeaton Primary School.  All our meals are cooked on site by our dedicated catering team using fresh, additive free, animal welfare assured produce. Where possible, produce will be seasonal, locally sourced and organic.  We can also cater for pupils who have specific allergies, are vegetarian/vegan, or follow a strict diet due to cultural/religious reasons.

  • School Dinners are £2.60 per day / £13 per week

  • Cost of dinners for half term Mon 23rd Feb - Fri 27th Apr is £65

School dinner money is due in advance, either weekly or half-termly. Preferred payment method is via our IRIS Parentmail system (click the link to the right).

If you would like to change from sandwiches to dinners, or vice versa, please email the school office and include details of any food allergies or other dietary requirements the kitchen will need to know about. Alternatively you can download and complete the form Change to Lunchtime Arrangements (it may also be useful to have a look at this form to see what sort of information you should include in an email). If we receive notification before Friday, any change in meal arrangements will take effect from the following Monday.

Free School Meals

We use the service Link2ICT to manage our Free School Meal applications. To fill in an online application, you can use the following link:

Online FSM Application

The government has also extended free school meal eligibility to children in all households with no recourse to public funds (NRPF), subject to maximum income thresholds. If this applies to your family, please speak to someone in the school office as we're not able to use our usual eligiblity checking system in this instance. The application form below lists some of the immigration categories that would make your family eligible.

Application Form - NRPF

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM), so parents of infant-aged children do not need to pay for their school meals.

When your child moves into Key Stage 2, payment will be required for any school lunches, unless they qualify for means-tested Free School Meals.

Our Menus

Ordinarily our menus are on a 3-week rota, however there are days where we have a themed menu in school. When there are themed menu days taking place during the next few months we'll list them below.

You can click on the link to download the menus for this term or take a look below.
