Arts Week

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted that Markeaton Primary School will be holding a whole-school Arts Week from Tuesday 30th June to Thursday 2nd July 2026.

As you know, throughout the week, children from FS2 to Year 6 will take part in a wide range of exciting creative experiences linked to our theme, “The Great Outdoors.” We have organised a rich and inspiring programme of workshops and activities led by visiting artists, musicians, storytellers and performers, alongside creative sessions planned by our own staff team.

Activities across the week will include:

  • Clay sculpture workshops

  • Drumming sessions

  • Singing workshops

  • Storytelling experiences

  • Textile and nature-inspired art

  • Outdoor creative activities

  • Live musical performances

This is an amazing opportunity for the children to experience a huge variety of high-quality arts experiences, specialist teaching and creative resources across the week — something we are incredibly proud to offer as part of their curriculum enrichment - without even leaving the grounds!

We are extremely grateful to the PTFA, who have generously contributed £1000 towards the cost of Arts Week, and to TIMMS for their valued contribution of £500. Their support has enabled us to secure a fantastic range of workshops, performers and materials for all children.

To help us cover the remaining costs of specialist visitors, workshops and resources, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of:

  • £3 per child

If you are in a position to do so, we would also be incredibly grateful for any additional contribution to help support families who may be unable to contribute at this time. Any extra donations will go directly towards ensuring every child can fully access and enjoy the experience.

Payments can be made via ParentMail.

As always, no child will be excluded from taking part if contributions are not made, and we sincerely appreciate all support, whatever families are able to give.

We are very excited about the opportunities this week will provide and look forward to celebrating the children’s creativity, confidence and talents together.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Kind regards,

The Markeaton Arts Family
